Environment Canada is forecasting severe weather in the area that may bring strong winds and large hail. This watch is in effect for Clearwater County and the Town of Rocky Mountain House. At the same time, County crews have begun right-of-way cleanup operations on Highway 598 between Taimi and Oras Roads following the recent storm. Crews will continue moving through other impacted areas in the coming days as recovery efforts progress. Residents are reminded that trees impacted by recent tornadoes and wind events may have sustained hidden damage and could be weakened. These trees are at an increased risk of falling during future wind events, even if they appear stable. If you are conducting cleanup activities in affected areas, please stay clear of damaged or compromised trees whenever strong winds are present. Be aware of your surroundings, avoid working under leaning or broken trees, and leave hazardous tree removal to qualified professionals. Residents are asked to avoid active cleanup areas whenever possible to help reduce traffic congestion and allow County crews and partner agencies to work safely and efficiently. If travel through affected areas is necessary, please use caution and follow all signage and directions from crews on site. Monitor weather conditions closely and take appropriate precautions to protect yourself and your family. If severe weather approaches, seek shelter immediately and avoid unnecessary travel.
