PHASE 6 PROJECT FOR NORDEGG AWARDED $3,781,303.00
April 26, 2022 - the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development, announced over $5 million in funding for Clearwater County and Switch Incorporated to bring high-speed Internet to 7,339 households in rural Alberta. Communities that will benefit from this project include Nordegg, Hay Lakes, New Sarepta, Cooking Lake, Collingwood Cove and Tofield. Clearwater County's Phase 6 project for Nordegg was awarded $3,781,303.00 for 242 households.

Clearwater County Broadband Network Operations Awarded to Rigstar Industrial Telecom
January 12, 2023 - Clearwater County has awarded the broadband network operations to Rigstar Industrial Telecom a division of Rigstar Communications Inc, an Alberta based entity (Rigstar), who will operate and manage the recently completed fibre network, built and owned by Clearwater County, to optimize the delivery of accelerated high-speed Internet for the municipality of Clearwater County, its’ residents and businesses. Rigstar will also facilitate the on-boarding and management of any Internet Service Providers that qualify to participate in the ‘Open Access’ network.

Clearwater County Launches Cutting-Edge Open Access Network (OAN) to Transform Connectivity in Rural Alberta
Sept 21, 2023 - Clearwater County, a large rural municipality located in west central Alberta is thrilled to announce the successful launch of an Open Access Network (OAN), a groundbreaking initiative that promises to revolutionize connectivity for businesses and residents across the county. With three out of six project phases completed, the OAN will leverage over 360 kilometers of fiber-optic cable and strategically placed wireless towers to deliver high-speed Internet connectivity throughout Clearwater County.

Clearwater County Secures Game-Changing Grants for Cutting-Edge Broadband Project for Residents and Businesses
June 14, 2024 - Following the hard work of the Broadband Committee and after a long wait and anticipation, Clearwater County has been awarded five substantial grants from Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED) Canada and the Government of Alberta. The awarded grants, covering up to 75% of project cost, mark a transformative step in realizing Clearwater County’s vision for a state-of-the-art fibre network connecting homes and businesses directly to the County’s Core Backbone.
