2023 – Adoption of the Current MDP
On May 9, 2023, Clearwater County Council granted second and third readings to Bylaw 1132/22 and officially adopted the MDP.
This plan was developed over three years with extensive public input, including open houses, virtual sessions, and surveys.

Recent Update (2026)
On April 28, 2026, Council adopted Bylaw 26/078, which updates Section 10 (Subdivision of Land) of the 2023 MDP. These amendments are now in effect.

Public Engagement Activities (2020–2022)
Open Houses – Summer 2022
Clearwater County held virtual and registered open houses in the summer of 2020.
In 2021, a series of virtual open houses were held online (via zoom) from January 25 to February 4, regarding changes to the Municipal Development Plan (MDP). A recording of the virtual house is linked below on this page.
Clearwater County staff collected and compiled all the comments received during the “Public Consultation & Input” stage. Once compiled, the comments were provided to Council for review and discussion on September 28, 2021. Following that, changes were made to the document, which is what is being presented to you now. You can find a summary of the general themes and thoughts received during the public input here.

Survey: Subdivision in Agriculture District (July 15-August 19, 2022)
