Topic Issues

Council has heard concerns from residents about how subdivision activity is managed, especially when growth happens faster than local roads, water systems, and other essential infrastructure can support. These concerns were a key reason for reviewing Section 10 of the Municipal Development Plan.

Update – April 28, 2026

On April 28, 2026, Council granted second and third reading with amendments to Bylaw 26/078 and adopted updates to the Municipal Development Plan.

The goal of these changes is to ensure subdivision policies guide responsible, well-paced growth so that new development fits the capacity of existing services and does not place added strain on the community. The adopted amendments strengthen the balance between growth and infrastructure readiness while preserving agricultural land and the County’s rural character.
