Ember the Travelling Bear
In 2019 the Life Safety and Events (LSE) Committee designed a mascot for the “Don’t Hide, Hug a Firefighter” program developed by CRFRS in order to help children be less afraid of firefighters while they are in turnout gear during an emergency, and to teach them to run towards firefighters instead of running away and hiding.
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 gathering restrictions limiting public education events, the LSE Committee took the mascot in a new direction to spread positivity to other Fire Departments. During the COVID-19 pandemic and the overwhelming uncertainty, the LSE Committee set out to create something positive and uplifting for the public, as well as our fire family. The LSE Committee is trying to do something special to try and bring everyone together in this time of uncertainty.
